A Philosophy Rooted in Respect and Discovery

Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the groundbreaking work of Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952), Italy's first female physician. Her observations of young children led her to develop revolutionary principles that continue to shape education today.

Core Tenets:

  • Respect for the Individual: We recognize that every child learns and develops at their own pace. Our approach honors each child's unique potential.
  • The Power of Early Learning: Dr. Montessori believed the most critical learning period occurs from birth to age six. We provide a stimulating environment to nurture curiosity and exploration during this pivotal time.
  • Self-Directed Learning: Our classrooms are equipped with developmentally appropriate materials that encourage children to become independent and self-motivated learners.
  • Absorbent Mind: Children naturally absorb knowledge from their surroundings. We create rich environments that foster intellectual growth, both through social interaction and engaging materials.
  • The Drive for Independence: Every child has an innate desire for autonomy. Our program fosters this by allowing children to make choices and participate actively in their learning journey.

By embracing these core principles, we empower children to become confident, lifelong learners ready to thrive in a world of endless possibilities.

We take Cultivating the Whole Child: Our Montessori Programs

At Ashley's Daycare & Montessori Preschool, we take immense pride in the programs we offer. Founded upon the pioneering work of Dr. Maria Montessori, our curriculum fosters the development of the whole child – intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and even spiritually.

Modern Relevance of a Timeless Approach:

Dr. Montessori's methods, developed over a century ago, are experiencing a resurgence as cutting-edge research using MRI, brain mapping, and child development studies validate their effectiveness. We firmly believe, as Dr. Montessori did, that education should extend far beyond academics, nurturing a well-rounded individual.

Individualized Learning at Its Core:

Our classrooms embrace a student-centered approach. Children learn at their own pace, guided by experienced Montessori teachers. This freedom to explore fosters a love of learning, while clear boundaries ensure a respectful environment where everyone thrives. Hands-on, concrete lessons provide a solid foundation for understanding before progressing to more advanced concepts.

A Rich Tapestry of Learning:

Mixed-age classrooms (typically within a three-year span) create a vibrant learning environment. Older children act as mentors, while younger ones benefit from positive role models. This fosters collaboration and allows each child to advance at their own pace.

The Power of Nature:

We believe in the transformative power of the outdoors. Each classroom dedicates a significant portion of the week to outdoor exploration, allowing children to connect with nature and experience a sense of peace, inner calm, respect, and responsibility.

Early Childhood Center (ECC) Program:

Our ECC program caters to children aged 2.5 to 6, including kindergarten-aged students. Offered five full days, the program emphasizes:

  • Developing Independence: Activities focus on personal independence, order, organization, and concentration.
  • Individualized Instruction: Children engage in individual lessons in practical life skills (everyday living tasks), sensorial exploration (learning through senses and pre-math skills), botany, zoology, history, geography, math, language/reading, and grace and courtesy.
  • Enriching Group Activities: Music, art, and circle time activities add a layer of fun and social interaction.

By combining the wisdom of Dr. Montessori's methods with a nurturing environment, Ashley's Daycare & Montessori Preschool empowers children to become confident, well-rounded individuals with a lifelong love of learning.
